eSIM compatibility checker

An eSIM is a SIM built into your phone — no plastic card, activated by scanning a QR code. Most phones from the last few years support it, but there are real exceptions by region and carrier lock. Pick your device below for a plain-language verdict.

Why "likely" and not "yes"

eSIM support can differ between regional variants of the same model, and a carrier-locked phone will refuse an eSIM from anyone else. So the honest verdict for most models is "likely compatible" — the model generally has eSIM — with the definitive check left to your actual handset.

The one check that's always right: dial *#06#. If an EID number appears next to the IMEI, your phone has eSIM hardware.

Two reasons a compatible phone still won't work

  • Carrier lock:a phone tied to the carrier that sold it only accepts that carrier's SIMs. It has to be unlocked first — usually a request to that carrier.
  • Regional variant: some models sold in mainland China ship with dual physical SIM and no eSIM, and a few US and other variants differ too. Same name, different hardware.

Once you know it's compatible

An eSIM installs alongside your normal SIM, so you keep your usual number and add data on top. NordSecure's eSIMs activate by scanning a QR code — no name, no account — and run in over 190 destinations.

eSIM compatibility checker — common questions

How do I know if my phone supports eSIM?
Pick your brand and model above. As a quick manual check, dial *#06# — if an EID number appears alongside the IMEI, your phone has an eSIM. On iPhone, look under Settings → Cellular for an 'Add eSIM' option; on Android, Settings → Network & internet → SIMs.
My model says 'likely compatible' — is that a guarantee?
No, and we label it honestly. eSIM support varies by regional variant and carrier lock even within the same model name. 'Likely compatible' means the model generally supports eSIM; always confirm with the *#06# check or your phone's settings before buying.
Why might a compatible phone still not work?
Two common reasons: it's carrier-locked, so it only accepts SIMs from the carrier that sold it; or it's a region-specific variant that shipped without eSIM hardware (some models sold in mainland China, and a few US/other variants, differ). A carrier-locked phone must be unlocked first.
Does an eSIM replace my normal SIM?
No — most eSIM-capable phones run an eSIM alongside your physical SIM (dual SIM). You keep your usual number and add the eSIM for data, so your own number stays where it is.
My phone isn't listed. What now?
The dataset covers major Apple, Google Pixel and Samsung models and is expanding. If yours isn't shown, use the *#06# check or your phone's network settings to confirm eSIM support directly — that's the definitive answer for any device.
