The one-time setup fee, explained
The setup fee (from €4.99, priced per country) covers your physical eSIM: a real base plan of the duration you choose, installed via the QR on your account page. It's charged once per eSIM — your full chosen amount stays as spendable credit, and topping this eSIM up later adds credit with no fee at all.
One thing worth knowing before you choose: an eSIM belongs to the country you set it up for. Buying data for somewhere else later means a new eSIM, with its own setup fee — so if you're visiting several countries, check whether a regional plan covers the whole trip on one profile.

Before you buy
- Will this work on my phone?
- It needs a phone that supports eSIM and isn't locked to a carrier — in practice most phones from 2019 onwards, including iPhone XS and newer, Pixel 3 and newer, and recent Samsung Galaxy models. Dial *#06# and look for an EID: if one appears, your phone can take an eSIM. A handset locked to an operator will refuse the profile even when the hardware supports it.
- What is the setup fee actually paying for?
- A real data plan, not an admin charge. The fee is the price of the cheapest package available in your country at the duration you pick, and that package is what we order from the network to bring your eSIM into existence. It's priced per country and per duration, which is why it isn't a single flat number.
- If I buy a second country later, do I pay setup again?
- Yes. An eSIM is tied to the country it was created for, so a plan for somewhere else means a new eSIM with its own ICCID, PIN and setup fee. Topping up an eSIM you already have never carries a setup fee — but the top-up buys data for that eSIM's own country. Worth knowing before you choose where to start.
- Do I have to claim it straight away?
- Within 14 days. Claiming just means logging in once with your ICCID and PIN, which stops the clock permanently. An eSIM that goes unclaimed past 14 days is voided, and voiding does not refund the purchase — so save your ICCID and PIN somewhere safe the moment you see them, and log in once to be certain.
- What happens to money left over?
- We spend your amount on the best-value data it buys the moment your payment clears. Anything too small to buy another package stays on your eSIM as credit, doesn't expire, and rolls into your next top-up. There's no subscription and no monthly bill — you pay once, for what you chose.
- When does my data start counting down?
- When the eSIM first connects to a network, not when you pay. You can buy days before a trip without losing any of it. Each package carries its own validity, shown before you buy, and topping up extends the eSIM rather than restarting it — the days stack.
- Do I get a phone number with it?
- No — these are data-only. If you need a number that can take calls and texts, that's a different product: our phone plans include one. Buying a data eSIM expecting a number is the single most common mix-up, so it's worth being clear before you pay.
- Can I get a refund?
- Data that's been delivered can't be refunded, and unused credit isn't cashed out — you're buying a digital product that reaches you immediately. If provisioning fails on our side after your card is charged, the refund is automatic and you don't have to ask. If something has gone wrong with an order, contact us with your Order ID and we'll sort it out properly.
